Our nonprofit was established with a mission to provide environmental education programs to underserved communities.
Upon retiring in 1991, Carole Williams-Green, a former public school teacher and administrator, had a vision to transform the abandoned horse stables in Cobbs Creek Park into an environmental center. With growing concern about the condition of the historic building, she worked with residents and community activists to raise $2.7 million to renovate the stable and restore the park. By 2002, the abandoned building had become a state-of-the-art education and scientific center.
Today, community residents enjoy a center with classrooms, a laboratory complete with scientific equipment, a telescope, a bird sanctuary, a community garden, lots of green space with walking trails, as well as a natural trail alongside the creek. An array of programs and partnerships are supported by the CCCEEC, Inc. nonprofit organization. Read on to see how our programs make a difference!
