CCCEEC, Inc. was established with a MISSION to provide environmental and civic education programs to underserved communities.
CCCEEC, Inc. was founded in 1991 as a nonprofit corporation by Carole Williams Green, a retired teacher and administrator who spent 31 years working in the Philadelphia School system. She was always looking for ways to improve science education. Her vision was to turn an abandoned horse stable into a state-of-the-art environmental education center located in Cobbs Creek Park. After retirement, she spearheaded decade-long effort to raise nearly $2.7 million to renovate the old stable.
In 2001, the dream became a reality when the doors of the Cobbs Creek Community Environmental Education Center opened. Recently, the city invested $1.5 million to renovate the building. Our legacy today is an upgraded facility with a laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art scientific equipment and classrooms with high-tech whiteboards. Also, a new roof has been installed, and renovations have been made to the interior of the building. Not only is the Center a unique part of the fabric of our nonprofit, we also create thriving communities through educational support.
