CCCEEC, Inc. was founded in 1991 as a nonprofit corporation by Carole Williams Green. A teacher and administrator who spent 31 years in Philadelphia schools, Carole was always looking for ways to improve science education. She had a vision to turn the historic and abandoned Fairmount Park Police stables into an state-of-the-art environmental education center. After retirement, Carole spearheaded an effort to get the buy-in of city and state officials and worked with numerous volunteers to raise nearly $2.7 million to renovate the old stables. She continues to inspire new generations to advocate for environmental and social justice.
